        Scientific American 275. 5 (Nov, 1996): 106 (8 pages).
      Abstract
Rock paintings that were discovered in Southern Africa belong to societies
that existed a thousand years ago and vividly describe the local culture,
flora and fauna and customs. The artwork reveal that the societies believed
that animals were once human and that men and women were created equal.
